Reader’s Question:

I finally got my last paycheck from my employer and I already have enough funds to get the Cadillac Escalade here in Houston, Texas. Can you give me brief description of the Cadillac Escalade and when would it be available in the market?

Penny

Houston, TX

According to recent buzz around automotive community in Houston, Texas, the 2009 Cadillac Escalade will go on sale this summer. It would be available with the rear or 4wheel drive. The Escalade won’t be offered on the long wheel base (Escalade ESV or Escalade EXT) sports utility truck. It would only be offered with the standard length. The Cadillac Escalade has a two mode hybrid system which works very well with the Vortec 6.0 V8 with the company’s new Electrically Variable Transmission (EVT) in which it is equipped with 2 electric motors and 4 fixed gears. The V8 engine also has Active Fuel Management system, which stops the 4 cylinders during light load driving to conserve fuel and energy. The 2 modes comprise mainly of hybrid power train aids, during light and highway driving.

I was able to do a test drive on the Escalade sometime last month and was really impressed about how it was packaged. It guarantees a 50% increase in terms of fuel economy when I drove it around Houston, Texas and at least a 25% increase overall. With light throttle, it can go up to 30 mph and automatically shuts down the engine during stops to conserve fuel. Although I have not seen the fuel economy estimates yet, I still give my recommendation to the new Cadillac Escalade. I have seen it being sold at more or less than $60,000. Insure it up with a reliable insurance coverage. Check some ads on this page for free quotations.
